2018 and Beyond! Looking Forward To The New Year.
Here it is mid January already and I am finally getting around to wishing all of you a Happy New Year. The last few months of 2017 were a bit crazy for our house. My husband was laid off from his job after almost 19 years, my son graduated from Cyber Security school and I thought that it would be “fun” to have the whole family come to town for his graduation and stay through Christmas. What in the world was I thinking? For those of you that don’t know me well, I am an introvert that LOVES structure and calm. I normally avoid this kind of kind of chaos like the plague. We all survived but I’m just starting to feel like things are finally settling down to normal here at home :).
With all of that said I have been thinking a lot about what I would like to accomplish this coming year. I am not a New Years Resolution kind of gal, that is way to much pressure, but I do like to get a handle on a few items that need attention each year. Since I am a pet blogger two areas that I have decided need to be addressed have to do with my Chihuahua tribe. Iggy is our 8 year old Chihuahua. He has a bit of a weight problem. We lovingly refer to him as a turkey loaf with legs or a potato with legs. I’m sure you get the picture. When we adopted him five years ago he only weighed 5 1/2 pounds. This was way to skinny but unfortunately we took him in the other direction and he is now about 8.5 pounds. So we will be looking into helping him to lose some weight. The Rocket Dog mascot is our 13 year old Chihuahua, Oliver. He will also be participating in the weight loss journey but his biggest issue is barking. Oh my goodness can he bark!! You would think that we were under attack by the way he goes off when the door bell rings. This of course sets the other two off so all hell break lose when the UPS man comes a calling. I am hoping to try to curb at least some of his barking this year by using different tactics I learn about. If you have any ideas for me to try please feel free to send them to me in the comments below. I can use all the help I can get.
I plan on bringing you more posts about our progress in the weight loss and barking adventures in addition to other fun topics in 2018. My hope is that my tribe and I can make you laugh, educate you on new topics & products, encourage your creativity and share the journey of pet parenting with you. So even though it is 16 days late – Happy New Year from all of us here at Rocket Dog Blog!!!
