Doggy Donuts For The Apple Of Your Eye
Today is a typical Colorado Spring day so I decided that it was a great time to bake up some Gluten Free Apple Doggy Donuts. What is a typical Colorado Spring day you ask? Well yesterday day our weather was sunny blue skies hitting temperatures in the mid 70’s – perfection! Today on the other hand, not even 24 hours later, we are looking at rain and snow with highs in the mid 40″s. BIG difference!!! So warm apple smells drifting through the house is just what was needed today 🙂 .
These Gluten Free Apple Doggy Donuts are quick and easy to make and all of our tribe along with my daughter’s crew loved them. I make all of our treats Gluten Free but obviously you can use what ever flour works for your pups.
Ingredients:
2 cups water
1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
4 Tbsp organic honey
4 cups Gluten Free flour (I used Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free flour)
1Tbsp baking powder
1 cup chopped apples (about 1 medium apple)
White Chocolate Disks (I bought mine from Natural Grocers)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F).
Mix water, apple sauce, vanilla, egg and honey. Add Gluten Free flour and baking powder into the wet ingredients.
Add chopped apples to mixture.
Spray donut baking pan with cooking spray.
Spoon all of the dough mixture into a gallon sized Ziploc baggie and cut off a corner. Gently squeeze the dough mixture into the greased donut baking pan.
Bake donuts for 35 minutes or until golden. Let cool.
Melt a few of the white chocolate disks in the microwave, Time will vary based on how many disks you use and your microwaves wattage. Take it slow and be careful not to burn them.
Once your donuts are cooled, remove from pan and drizzle with the white chocolate.
Your Gluten Free Apple Doggy Donuts are now ready to serve to your canine crew!!
My quality control team is anxiously awaiting their trail tasting.
Stanley is just there for moral support.
